Frequently asked questions.

Q: What age should I start training my dog?
A: Training can begin as early as 8 weeks old. The earlier you start, the easier it is to instill good habits. We offer puppy training programs designed for early socialization and foundational obedience plus help with potty training!

Q: Do you work with all breeds and sizes?
A: Yes! We have experience with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. Each training program is tailored to your dog’s unique needs and personality.

Q: How long does dog training take?
A: It depends on your goals and your dog’s learning pace. Basic obedience often takes 2-4 weeks, while more advanced skills or behavior modification may require ongoing sessions. Our board and train programs range from 2 weeks to 5 weeks!

Q: What kind of behavior problems can you help with?
A: We address a wide range of issues, including barking, leash pulling, aggression, separation anxiety, jumping, reactivity, and more.

Q: Do you use positive reinforcement training?
A: Absolutely! Our training is reward-based but we do also layer over fair and reasonable corrections once the dogs is ready. We are balanced trainers.

Q: Can you help with leash reactivity or aggression?
A: Yes. We specialize in working with reactive and aggressive dogs using customized behavior modification plans focused on safety, desensitization, and confidence-building.

Q: What is off-leash training?
A: Off-leash training teaches your dog to reliably respond to commands even when they’re not on a leash. This includes skills like recall, stay, and safe behavior in open environments.

Q: Is off-leash training safe?
A: Yes, when done properly. We use long leads, controlled environments, and gradual proofing in addition to the ecollar to ensure your dog responds reliably before moving to true off-leash freedom.

Q: Can every dog be trained to be off-leash?
A: Most dogs can achieve reliable off-leash skills with consistent training, but results vary by breed, temperament, and training history. We’ll assess your dog and build a plan that works for them.

Q: How long does off-leash training take?
A: It varies, but typically it takes 4-6 weeks of structured practice. We focus on building a solid foundation in recall, impulse control, and focus around distractions.

Q: Do you offer group classes?
A: At this time, we do not offer regular group classes. Keep an eye out on our social media pages for upcoming events and classes.

Q: Where do you train dogs?
A: All over Colorado Springs, Castle Rock and Parker! We take the dogs on a variety of urban, mountain and suburban field trips to help them generalize their skills and prepare them for real-world scenarios.

Q: Where do board and trains take place?
A: Dogs will stay with their trainer on a 5-acre dog training ranch in Franktown, Colorado - about 15 minutes from Downtown Castle Rock. Tours available upon request.

Q: Can I visit my dog during their board and train?
A: You can visit your dog during their training by appointment.

Q: How does the in-home day training work?
A: We will pick up your dog from home on their training day and transport them in our secure and safe transportation van. Your dog will get the training, exercise and fulfilment they need without needing to board overnight. You get your dog home every afternoon and over the weekend!

Q: Do I need to be home for pick up and drop off?
A: Nope, we just need access to them (keycode or lockbox) and they must be securely crated or in a confined room - for their safety and the safety of the trainer.

Q: Will I get updates during my dogs training?
A: Yes! Each dog will get a Google Drive folder that we will update at least every 48 hours.

Q: Do you offer short-term boarding?
A: Yes, all graduates of our training programs are eligible for boarding after training. We want a continued relationship with you and your dog! We also offer graduate exclusive day training.

Q: What is included in the program?
A: We include any training equipment necessary to the program plus lifetime support.
